Definition of forgiveness

Forgiveness Asking for forgiveness has many benefits, including peace of mind and tranquility, and gives inner peace to the soul. It also gives strength in the body and safety from diseases. There is found in the remembrance of what gives plants in heaven, enriches the heart and fills the need. It also erases bad deeds and replaces them with good deeds. The Most Merciful also removes worry and distress, brings happiness to the servant, provides him with sustenance from where he does not expect, and brings down tranquility and distracts the servant from backbiting and gossip.

What are the most important supplications for forgiveness?

O Allah, you are my Lord, there is no god but You, You created me and I am Your servant, and I keep Your covenant and promise as much as I can, I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done, For my sin, so forgive me, for no one forgives sins except You.

Whoever says it with certainty in it when evening comes and dies during that night will enter Paradise, and likewise when he wakes up, and it is said once in the morning remembrances and in the evening remembrances as well.

From what was narrated from the Prophet - may God’s prayers and peace be upon him - in the formulas of seeking forgiveness: (that when he finished his prayer, he would say: I ask God for forgiveness three times) Dawood, on the authority of Bilal bin Yasar, he said: My father told me on the authority of my grandfather, that he heard the Prophet - may God’s prayers and peace be upon him - say: (Whoever says I seek forgiveness from God the Great, who there is no god but He, the Ever-Living, the Eternal, and I repent to Him, He will be forgiven even if he is fleeing from advancing)

And the master of seeking forgiveness in an authentic hadith narrated by Al-Bukhari in the chapter on supplications, from his book Al-Jami’ Al-Sahih: (The master of seeking forgiveness is to say: O Allah, You are my Lord, there is no god but You, You created me and I am Your servant, and I am on Your covenant and promise as much as I can, I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done, I abide by You By Your grace upon me, and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for sins are not forgiven to You, and whoever says it during the day with certainty in it and then dies from that day before the evening comes, he is from the people of Paradise, and whoever says it at night with certainty in it and dies before morning becomes one of the people of Paradise).

Explanation of the master's supplication for forgiveness

On the authority of Shaddad bin Aws, may God be pleased with him, on the authority of the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, who said: (O God, you are my Lord, there is no god but You, You created me and I am Your servant, and I abide by Your covenant and promise as much as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. To me, for no one forgives sins except you. He said: And whoever said it during the day with certainty in it, then died on that day before evening came, he is from the people of Paradise, and whoever said it at night with certainty in it, then he died before morning, then he is from the people of Paradise) “Sahih Bukhari.”

This supplication in which the servant acknowledges his servitude to God Almighty, and affirms his testimony of the Oneness of God Almighty and that there is no god but Him, and the servant seeks refuge from Him from the evil of his deeds, and renews his repentance to God Almighty, who erases his sins, forgives him, and erases his bad deeds.

And the Messenger of God made it clear that whoever said it during the day and died on that day, then he is among the people of Paradise, and whoever said it in the Nile and died on that night, then he is among the people of Paradise.

The virtue of the supplication of the master seeking forgiveness

The supplication of the master of seeking forgiveness is a supplication mentioned by the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, mentioned the virtue of this supplication that whoever said it during the day believing in it and died on that day entered Paradise, and also whoever said it at night and died on his night before morning, he is one of the People of Paradise, and it is an easy and simple supplication that can be memorized and easy for anyone to read, and many neglect it despite the great reward for those who read it.

The benefits of the master's supplication for forgiveness

This supplication is full of many benefits and meanings that bring the servant closer to his Lord and make him among the people of Paradise if he dies on that day.

  • The servant acknowledges the oneness of God, Glory be to Him, and that He has no partner in His kingdom, and that there is no god but Him.
  • A servant's acknowledgment that he is a servant of God alone, and his acknowledgment of servitude to God.
  • Belief that God is the one who manages and disposes of the universe.
  • Asking for forgiveness from God, seeking forgiveness, abandoning sins, acknowledging his weakness before his Lord, acknowledging his guilt, and repenting to God.
  • The slave asked for protection from God and to avoid problems and temptations.
